Flamingos Golf Course Review
Hole 1 is a Par 5 at 440 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.4
Flamingos Golf club starts with an incredibly difficult opening hole.
An elevated tee with incredible views over the surrounding valley and
Mediterranean. Two sloping bunkers are the danger left but there is more
danger right as the hole falls away into the enormous lake. The green
is hidden over on the left with a nasty pot bunker directly in front.
Hole 2 is a Par 3 at 190 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.10
Is it really necessary to have such a difficult Par 3 hole this early
in the round and directly after the menacing opening hole. It’s
long, probably a wood for most, the lake is again right, and the two bunkers
on the left are vicious. The long undulating green can be no sacrifices
if you leave yourself a monster putt.
Hole 3 is a Par 4 at 367 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.6
A quieter hole now with a tight drive and OOB to the left. You must be
accurate with your approach hot as the green is well protected by bunkers
and trees.
Hole 4 is a Par 3 at 150 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.18
A very elevated tee shot to a difficult green. Three oddly shaped bunkers
protect the ‘tilted’ green that has various contours to make
par very difficult.
Hole 5 is a Par 4 at 319 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.16
Great views of the stunning hotel are available on the tee but concentrate
on keeping your tee shot straight. The left hand side drops away onto
the 9th fairway and there is a bunker on the right. The grren is long
and narrow and guarded by four bunkers.
Hole 6 is a Par 5 at 467 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.5
A vicious dog-leg to the right with practically no option of cutting the
corner, so keep the tee shot to the left hand side. Don’t be short
on your approach shot as there are two bunkers hiding in the front of
the green.
Hole 7 is a Par 4 at 322 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.14
An elevated tee on this hole that heads back towards the hotel. Nothing
too dangerous here and if you managed to hot a long, straight drive then
you may carry the fairway slope all the way to the green.
Hole 8 is a Par 3 at 160 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.12
Par three with a square shaped green that has bunkers all around to prevent
a safe par.
Hole 9 is a Par 4 at 336 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.2
Possibly the most exciting hole at Flamingos Golf and well worthy of the
HCP rating. A drive over the river with around 180 metres carry is require
to reach the tight fairway. Don’t drive too long as there is a bunker
awaiting. An accurate approach is also needed as this flat green is well
protected by bunkers.

Hole 10 is a Par 4 at 360 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.1
Flamingos Golf’s signature hole kicks off the back nine. An elevated
tee that will give you a stunning view of the green and you will notice
it perched on the corner of the lake. Hit a conservative tee short to
the left side of the fairway as there is a ‘dead’ tree in
the middle. Take on the green if you dare with your approach but watch
out for the wind and bear in mind there is a lot of safe land to the right
if you want to lay up.
Hole 11 is a Par 5 at 488 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.7
An uphill par 5 that is virtually straight forward, the only difficult
part is hitting the green which is hidden in a basin and protected by
sand and trees.
Hole 12 is a Par 3 at 164 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.9
Nice steady par 3 with only one bunker protecting the circular green.
A must par here!
Hole 13 is a Par 4 at 311 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.15
An uphill par 4 that it not too long. The danger is in front of the green
in the shape of a horrible bunking.
Hole 14 is a Par 4 at 369 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.11
Downhill all the way here! A long healthy drive may see your ball stop
near the green. Watch out for the dry bunkers on the fairway and also
the two filled with sand by the green.
Hole 15 is a Par 5 at 450 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.15
Flamingos Golf now offers up a monster Par 5 with a savage dog-leg to
the left. DO NOT cut the corner as you will find a watery grave. A fairway
bunker demands an accurate tee shot and anything right will end up in
death valley. This hole demands respect and think bogey and you will be
happy.
Hole 16 is a Par 3 at 137 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.13
The shortest Par 3 at Flamingos Golf has a kidney shaped green that has
two lakes protruding towards the front tip. You have to have a high tee
shot to stop your ball dead as roll of the bank and san traps await.
Hole 17 is a Par 4 at 294 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.17
An elevated tee sets you up superbly for the penultimate hole. Three scattered
bunkers on the side of the fairway need to be avoided on the way to the
green that sits just left of centre. Two bunkers greenside.
Hole 18 is a Par 4 at 390 (Metres) from the White Tees
and S.I.3
Flamingos Golf delivers a finishing hole that will have you cringing.
The different water hazards come into play here. The fairway snakes around
two of these towards the green. Bunkers are front and back and the green
is twisted with contours.
