Monte Mayor Golf Course
18 holes 5652 Metres, Par 70
Location:- Costa del Sol
Since its opening in 1989 Monte Mayor has built up a unique reputation
world wide. Designed by José Cancedo and hidden in the hills
behind Cancelada, this is a monster course. Nowhere else you will
find such a quiet surrounding and an extremely challenging golf
course than Monte Mayor.
Monte Mayor is an experience where each hole is an infinite challenge
on its own. Blind tee shots, steep ravines (you need to hit the
green on the par 3 third!), terraced fairways, each hole on this
course has its own characteristics which makes playing Monte Mayor unique.
The tee’s at the long 4th hole are on a raised platform
and your drive must land on an isolated plateau. Your second shot
is aimed at yet another plateau, and beside the green is a beautiful
cascading waterfall.
The 16th is a long par 5, reachable with a second shot after a
long first drive, and is a joy to the eye. The green is some 100
metres below the elevated tee - a vantage point where you enjoy
spectacular 360 views over the mountains and sea.
The course calls for a cool head. The local rules are pretty lenient,
as any lost ball is considered to be in a side water hazard. Here
you feel alone in the hilly terrain, with only your golf as your
friend, or foe depending on how your game is.
With spectacular views, this is one the most extravagant golf
course's in the region, and is repeatedly rated as one of the best
in the whole of Spain. Among experts, this course is often rated
among the top golf courses in the world.
It is no accident to see that Monte Mayor Golf Course emblem is
a bull. You have to fight it, stave off its charges and side step
its attacks. You leave the 18th green exhausted but delighted with
the magnificent landscapes. A baroque course of great intelligence,
and one that is impossible to overlook. Bring extra golf balls!
Facilities include: pro-shop, restaurant, club rental, putting
green, locker room and showers. |
